ABOUT - The Owners
Melissa Lindsay
Melissa Lindsay, Pimlico's interior designer, brings the unique sensibilities of Pimlico into a client's home, whether she is executing a full-scale decoration project or simply offering a new "eye" to style accessories. As co-owner of Pimlico, Melissa scours markets and explores her vast resources to bring unusual items to the store or to your home.
A native of Darien, Connecticut, Melissa earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design and visual communications at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She began her career as a graphic designer at Vogue magazine and New York magazine, but, after working at a small, upscale residential design firm in Brooklyn Heights, she decided to shift her emphasis to the interior design field.
Melissa attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in New York City and completed an associate's degree in interior architecture and design. During this time, she began working part-time at Pimlico, which was opened in New Canaan in 2000 by local resident Kim Gilhool. It was "love at first sight," and even after graduation from F.I.T. and landing a full-time position at Hollingsworth Design Associates in Norwalk, Melissa continued her association and dedication to Pimlico by continuing to work on weekends.
In 2006, Melissa had the opportunity to become co-owner of Pimlico. In this role, Melissa brings the added element of interior design to the store and offers clients a range of services tailored to specific design needs. In addition, Melissa says, "I just love the creative aspect of buying for the store, styling and re-arranging our finds to create a fresh look and an ever dynamic atmosphere for customers – you never know what awaits you at Pimlico!"
